Diemme

When I was younger I used to wear my favorite pair of hiking boots everywhere with just about everything.  I loved those boots.  They went with jeans, chinos, even dress pants…even a dress.  They were comfortable and surprisingly not to hot even on the hottest of days.

Diemme was founded in 1992 by two Italian brothers, Marco and Dennis.  This great collection comes from Montebelluna, a thriving and respected shoe industry creating great shoes since 1870.

If you are not a big fan of boots or not big on them in the summer months they have a great collection of sneakers for Dandi’s who can’t get enough stuffed in their closets.

Diemme’s designs are all about high-end materials and the use of their local artisanal talent.

They were initially created for trekking, hunting &  climbing.  The craftsmanship is the same but now they have added a fashion element that is hard to ignore.

Shoes For Spring

My favorite place to shop for shoes bar none is DSW.  Not only do they tend to have the widest selection of shoes but they always have my size and also good prices.  Oh yeah, and they send you a discount coupon in the mail almost every month!!!

I went this last week to see what they had to spice up your Dandi wardrobe as we move into the heart of Spring.

Wear with linen pants or nice shorts. Make sure you get your nails manicured!
It’s beach time! I love an excuse to add to my flip-flop collection.
Wear these fabulous leather kicks with jeans, khaki’s even with a suit.
A price alternative to the leather sneakers that will do the same job just as Dandily!
Bucks are a must have in any Dandi’s wardrobe. This is a pair of soft-sided bucks that will give you the edge on style.

Grenson

Since I was all about shoe care yesterday I thought I’d feature  the remarkable 145 year old brand, Grenson.  They make some of the best Dandi shoes around.

I believe that shoes make the Dandi.  Certainly there are times when people never even get to see your shoes (those are sad times), perhaps in a dark restaurant or maybe you are a puppeteer…but usually there is the outfit and then there are the shoes and they can really make or break what someone believes about your style.

Bad footwear choices can ruin a look. I have seen Dandy’s wearing a great cut suit only to completely kill the look with cheap, comfortable shoes.  I’m not saying that shoes have to be painful to look good, or overly expensive, but there is a time and place for everything and there are no well dressed Dandi’s on any best dressed list wearing rubber sole Stride Rite shoes, I‘m just saying…

Boots

Fall means boots and this season is no different.  Here are a few of the wonderful designs that are available to compliment your wardrobe with an elegant foundation.

Top to bottom:

Ralph Lauren

Louis Vuitton

Salvatore Ferragamo

Kenneth Cole

Always have a boot that you can tuck your pants into.  It makes for very sexy lines (in how it looks and in the flattering comments).

For a more casual style broken-in Chuka boots are trending for the season.

Transition to Fall

Fall is coming, believe it or not, and for those of you who are in cooler climates (lucky you!) the time has come for you to begin adding more layers to your look.  Tan is the color of the season and jackets, which can be removed if it gets too hot, are a great way to start transitioning your look and your wardrobe into the fall and winter months.  The look shown here is with tan jean shorts and a classic white shirt which you can add a bow-tie to and give it a preppy element.  The jacket is a great purchase that will transition into your fall looks.  The boots included here are also a great transition shoe but if it’s still to hot in your neck of the woods to pull them off you can easily replace them with tennis shoes or loafers.  Replace the shorts with the color of chino’s (see July 15th) or dark jeans for evening.

The Espadrille

The big summer trend in shoes for 2011 is the Espadrille.   They are stylish, comfortable and even designer labels are easy on the pocket.

The Dandi wears them with anything they would wear with a pair of sneakers or flip-flops, even a summer suit!  Espadrilles are also the perfect travel shoe; they are lightweight an easy to pack and you can coordinate them with everything from your looks for the beach to your dressier looks for evening.

Shoe styles range from open and closed toe to exposed back.  They are made of canvas, cloth, or jute (a plant fiber) with flexible but solid soles. The fun part about them is they come in many fun colors and designs plus they let your feet breathe during the hot summer months while giving you this summers fashionable yet relaxed Dandi look.

The Loafer

According to Details Magazine the penny loafer is this season’s go-to shoe.  The latest designs are a little  more streamlined than the old school loafer with a narrower toe.

The penny loafer originated in the 1930′s when the Spaulding company produced a shoe styled after the ones Norwegian diary farmers wore in an article that appeared in Esquire Magazine; but the penny didn’t entered the equation until years later.  The modern day loafer was created by John Bass who put his mark on the shoe with the creation of the Weejun.  He added the decorative strap across the top that was soon used to add a bit of style  (and money for an emergency phone call) by adding small objects such as pennies.

Generally worn without socks for a preppier style.  It is a simple practical shoe that looks great with a pair of rolled up Chino’s or for the more daring a classic suit.

Be Daring

Want to show off those guns you’ve been working on all winter?  Here is a look that is both eye-catching and sexy.  The sleeves on the jacket are actually designed to be short, they are not rolled up.  This designer jacket is thousands of dollars but this look can be easily achieved with the right light weight jacket and a good tailor.  Compliment the look with a long sleeve dress shirt and roll the sleeves tightly.

Once you have this jacket you will want to pull it out for special occasions as well.  You can dress it up with a tie or bow-tie.  Keep it fun with a contrasting pant and if you don’t have any this short just give them a roll or two.  Definitely keep your socks in the drawer and pull out your favorite Dandi shoes to put on that dapper touch.  And should your budget afford, this Trussardi bag is great for any stylish week-end get-away.

High-Top Sneakers

Who wouldn’t love to own a pair of these great Bally kicks for a mere $725.  Clearly if you’re on a budget there are definitely some tennis shoes that look a lot like these but won’t break your bank.  But if you can these will go well with your jeans, or even with a casual suit for a fun evening out with your girl.
